Two elderly Chinese women who applied during the Olympic Games to protest the loss of their homes have been ordered to spend a year in a labor camp, a relative said Wednesday, as more foreign activists were detained.
The women were still at home three days after being officially notified they would have to serve a yearlong term of reeducation through labor, but were under surveillance by a neighborhood watch group, said Li Xuehui, the son of one of the women…

Who’d have thunk it. Julia Childs, whisker-upper of puffulous souffles, Cutter-Upper of Creamy Casseroles, etc. – was a spy.
After the moratorium lifted on keeping sealed WWII government files on U.S. espionage activities abroad… well, sealed, Julia Childs name surfaces as one of the sneaks hired to spy on foreign powers and gather information that would be helpful to the American cause.
While she was only one of many spies who would one day become celebrities, since I’ve been a huge fan of Julia since I first made my first attempts at cooking in a kitchen full of incompetents, I found her story especially fascinating… you can read it HERE.
