WESTPORT, Conn. — Paul Newman, the Oscar-winning superstar who personified cool as the anti-hero of such films as “Hud,” “Cool Hand Luke” and “The Color of Money” — followed by a second act as an activist, race car driver and popcorn impresario — has died. He was 83.

Natalie Finn – eOnline

Natalie says:
“Pat O’Brien is hanging up his mic.

The longtime TV personality is leaving his post as a correspondent on the syndicated celebrity-gossip show The Insider after more than four years on the job…”

Was it just time to move on, or were there deeper reasons for his departure? Read on…

If he DID leave for the reasons that are alluded to in the story, well, then I’d have to say I admire his decision and I wish more people in positions of influence would follow suit.

ROCK FOR LIFE DEMANDS APOLOGY AFTER MTV HOST TRASHES PURITY, CALLS PALIN PREGNANCY A ‘PR STUNT’

Posted by celeborama on September 15, 2008

Press Release:

September 9, 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C. (8 September 2008)– Rock for Life, a national pro-life music and advocacy movement that promotes 832 bands, is demanding an apology from MTV Music Video Awards host Russell Brand for his sexist, judgmental and intolerant remarks.

Brand, a British comedian infamous for dressing up as Osama Bin Laden the day after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, hosted the 25th annual awards ceremony September 7.

Brand opened the show with a monologue that attacked the chastity promise of a Christian band, “The Jonas Brothers,” and called Bristol Palin’s pregnancy a “P.R. stunt”.

“Brand has been arrested 11 times, once for indecent exposure,” said Erik Whittington, director of Rock for Life. “He appears to care more about making crude jokes to gain attention than he does offending who choose to live a lifestyle different from his own lascivious past.”

The comedian spent much of his airtime advocating for candidates and making crude remarks about those who live chaste lives.

Brand on the Jonas Brother’s abstinence until marriage promise: “A little sex once and awhile never hurt anybody.”

Brand on Gov. Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol’s pregnancy: “I do feel a little bit sorry for her daughter, getting pregnant, poor kid. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? It’s a P.R. stunt. Come on. Be honest.”

“We demand Brand apologizes to the individuals and groups he purposefully offended,” Whittington said.

This kind of intolerant vitriol should not be tolerated by either the Christian community or the network that hired Russell Brand. I do not know ONE WOMAN who would volunteer her body to incubate a baby for 9 months and then raise it for another 18 (or for a down-syndrome child, many times for life) on purpose as a PR stunt. Now that is probably the most sexist, asinine statement I’ve heard in a LONG time.

Brand himself has been in numerous scrapes with the law in the U.K., and has had serious drug and sexual addiction issues, including at least eleven charges of indecent public exposure. Apparently he has not learned the difference between “a little sex once in a while” and an addictive obsession with it… to the point of exposing himself to unwilling (and most likely disgusted) viewers.

Russell Brand obviously needs more professional help, starting with some manners classes.

No, I’m not that naked chick. REALLY, I’m NOT!

Posted by celeborama on September 8, 2008

Gosh – imagine my dismay when I was informed that my blog had the very same name as another website featuring an ex-playboy playmate… YIKES! Well, just to let you know, although I wouldn’t mind having her figure, it’s not me. And I’m not adding a link to her site, since I’m not the porn-peddling type.

Needless to say I will probably be reregistering under a different name starting very soon… or maybe I’ll just stick with some of the other blogs I’ve been working on for the last year.

Olberman, Matthews dropped from MSNBC Anchor Positions

Posted by celeborama on September 8, 2008

It has been announced that Keith “Irate Man” Olbermann and Chris “Leg Thrill” Matthews have been demoted… they have now been given lesser roles as commentators on the NBC owned cable news channel, MSNBC.

MSNBC said Sunday it is replacing Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews as co-anchors of political night coverage with David Gregory, and will use the two newsmen as commentators.

The change reflects tensions between the freewheeling, opinionated MSNBC and the impartial newsgatherers at NBC News. Throughout the primaries and summer, MSNBC argued that Olbermann and Matthews could serve as dispassionate anchors on political news nights and that viewers would accept them in that role, but things fell apart during the conventions.

You don’t say? Not that I didn’t see this coming, but I’m surprised it took them this long.

“Tarleton Twin” Gone With The Wind Actor, Fred Crane, Dies at 90

Posted by celeborama on August 26, 2008

Fred Crane, the old-school actor whose distinct Southern drawl got him a role in the 1939 classic film as one of Scarlett O’Hara’s suitors in “Gone With the Wind,” has died. Crane played the part of one of the Tarleton twins.

Crane came by his role by chance when he accompanied his cousin to the movie audition. His accent was such a hit he landed the role of Brent Tarleton, the character that spoke the opening lines to the movie, “What do we care if we were expelled from college, Scarlett? The war is going to start any day now, so we’d have left college anyhow.”

Scarlett, played by the beautiful Vivien Leigh, replied to Brent and his twin brother, played by George Reeves (who later played Superman), “Fiddle-dee-dee. War, war, war. This war talk’s spoiling all the fun at every party this spring. I get so bored I could scream.”

His 5th wife, Terry Lynn Crane, said that he died Thursday of complications from diabetes. She did not give any further details. He was 90 years old an is survived by four children, eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
