Pink Floyd founding member Richard Wright dies

LONDON: Richard Wright, a founding member of the rock group Pink Floyd, died Monday. He was 65.

Pink Floyd’s spokesman Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist, said Wright died after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. He says the band member’s family did not want to give more details about his death.

Two Elderly Chinese Women To Work A Year in Labor Camp for APPLYING to Protest Loss of Their Homes

Two elderly Chinese women who applied during the Olympic Games to protest the loss of their homes have been ordered to spend a year in a labor camp, a relative said Wednesday, as more foreign activists were detained.

The women were still at home three days after being officially notified they would have to serve a yearlong term of reeducation through labor, but were under surveillance by a neighborhood watch group, said Li Xuehui, the son of one of the women…

CHINA NEWS: Hua Guofeng, Mao Zedong’s successor as Chinese Communist Party chairman, has died

Hua Guofeng, Mao Zedong’s successor as Chinese Communist Party chairman, has died. He was 87.
Guofeng died at 12:50 pm in Beijing of an as yet unspecified illness.

Full Medal Count – U.S.A. Surpasses All In Total Number of Medals

As of Saturday, August 16th, even with all the underage gymnasts and bronze-throwing tantrums, the U.S.A. individual athletes and teams outstrips the field in total number of medals won at this years Olympic Games. With 57 medals under our belts, I wonder about the chances of China, with 49 total medals, catching up with us anytime soon. Even if they do, it will still be difficult to outshine the huge wins for the amazing U.S. swim team, with Michael Phelps surpassing Spitz’s record gold medal wins for any one set of games. That is one of those feats that will go down in history as the new record to beat – Good luck with that.

Dara Torres Wins Silver Finishing Just 0.01 Seconds Behind Steffen in the 50-meter freestyle

Dara Torres hit the wall just a split second after Britta Steffen of Germany. Not bad for a 41 year old mommy of a two year old swimming against a 24 year old AND a 16 year old.
